Job summary

Parser is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer in London (Farringdon) to lead the design and implementation of a next-generation customer fulfillment platform. You will build high-performance microservices, apply event-driven architectures, and set core technical standards while aligning with warehouse operations.

You will collaborate with on-site operations, data scientists, and cross-functional teams to ensure delivery excellence.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building reliable Java microservices.
• Strong Kafka and event-driven architecture knowledge.
• Solid SQL/NoSQL skills (PostgreSQL, Couchbase).
• Cloud and container tech (Azure, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with Agile development and TDD practices.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and optimize high-performance microservices.
• Provide technical leadership across greenfield initiatives.
• Apply asynchronous messaging and latency management for throughput.
• Develop APIs and integrate with enterprise and third-party platforms.
• Diagnose complex issues to ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Leverage Agentic AI tools to streamline workflows.
• Collaborate with operations, hardware, and data science teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering excellence.
