Job Overview

Sequel Med Tech is seeking a technical architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of our technical infrastructure for customer- and employer-facing programs. As the second member of our small but growing team of architects, you will play a pivotal role in shaping healthcare delivery by overseeing the integration of various systems and technologies for our digital products, starting with our employer program and portals for customers and caregivers. The ideal candidate is a hands-on digital health utility player who will collaborate closely with the Principal Architect and leadership to define and execute a strategic roadmap in an agile environment. Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
  • Partner with Product Management and subject matter experts across departments (Quality, Regulatory, Legal, Marketing, Sales, Clinical, Cybersecurity, etc.) to understand their needs.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Architect to design, develop, and implement the overall IT architecture, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITRUST, etc.).
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for the IT architecture, adhering to best practices.
  • Stay informed about emerging healthcare technologies and evaluate their potential for integration.
  • Manage IT risks, ensuring data security, system availability, and disaster recovery protocols.
  • Work virtually with product teams to translate company and product visions into actionable roadmaps that deliver value.
Minimum Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in a technical IT or Software Development role, including:
    • 2+ years in an architect role or equivalent experience in architecture design and implementation.
    • 2+ years in healthcare or a regulated industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in agile development practices with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to challenge assumptions and improve processes.
  • Ability to model core agile principles within a regulated industry, including responding to change, valuing working software, prioritizing interactions, and collaborating with legal and quality teams.
  • Understanding of DevSecOps principles and the importance of Security and Quality by Design.
  • Experience working with cross-functional partners (Quality, Legal, Marketing, etc.).
  • Bias towards active collaboration and fostering a balanced team culture.
  • Strong knowledge of IT security, compliance regulations (HIPAA, HITRUST), and data privacy.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to be hands-on with engineering teams to accelerate implementation.
