Job summary

Google in London is seeking an AI/ML Staff Software Engineer focusing on AI Data to advance evaluation and data tooling. You will build pipelines, benchmarks, and platforms that scale models and enable high-quality data-driven insights across the organization. The role offers impact on both Google Cloud and internal AI systems.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will influence architecture, mentor teams, and drive end-to-end delivery of complex AI data initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience programming in C++, Java, Python, Kotlin or Go.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.

Responsibilities

• Research and implement novel eval-acceleration techniques (task synthesis, verifiers, rubric induction).
• Architect pipelines to mine logs and artifacts into high-fidelity evals and data.
• Design benchmarks for long-horizon reasoning across code and math; optimize discrimination.
• Scale platform software that automates quality gates (AutoRaters and loss-pattern analyzers).
• Provide technical direction across AI Data; align distributed teams and reusable benchmark approaches.
