Job summary

The Stepstone Group seeks a Staff Software Engineer (AI) to design, build and evolve production-grade agentic AI systems. This leadership, individual-contributor role focuses on integrating Large Language Models into scalable, secure architectures within our global marketplace.

You will influence cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and help move AI capabilities from experimentation to dependable, observable products while maintaining high engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Strong staff-level software engineering background with production-grade systems experience.
• Experience designing, building and operating distributed systems on AWS with security and compliance.
• Hands-on experience integrating LLMs into production via APIs and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, architect and deliver agentic, LLM-powered systems on AWS, ensuring production readiness and security.
• Provide technical leadership to evolve AI solutions from experimentation to robust, observable products.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, ML and data teams to align decisions with user needs and platform strategy.
• Define and drive engineering standards, reusable patterns, and best practices for scalable AI systems.
• Lead large-scale implementation and deployment with strong communication of architectural choices and mentoring.
