The Head Teacher and Governing Body of St Thomas Community Primary School are looking to appoint a temporary, Grade 4 Teaching Assistant, to join our school family. As teaching assistants, you will be responsible for supporting our pupils, not only in their learning but also their social and emotional development.

The posts will be temporary until March 2026, in the first instance.

The successful candidates should:

  • Have highly effective literacy and numeracy skills
  • Have experience of motivating and engaging primary age children
  • Be an effective team member and willing to support others
  • Be willing to contribute to the broader life of the school community

We are particularly looking for an individual with one or more of the following areas of interest:
  • Supporting learners with additional needs
  • Promoting outdoor exploration and learning
  • Digital competency and technology
  • Supporting learners with English as an Additional Language

St Thomas Community Primary School is located in the east of Swansea and caters for pupils aged three to eleven. We have 15 classes with over 350 full time pupils and approximately 80 part time nursery pupils. The school building is a modern, purpose built facility which opened in 2007 and is situated next to Maesteg Park in St Thomas, close to Fabian Way and SA1.
