Position Overview
The Nursery Nurse is responsible to the Manager and Deputy Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to the Policies & Procedures of the Nursery and comply with the Children Act, Health and Safety legislation, Ofsted guidelines, and the EYFS.
- Maintain confidentiality within the nursery.
- Work effectively as part of a team.
- Care for and supervise children, addressing their physical, emotional, and intellectual needs.
- Plan and prepare activities tailored to children's individual needs, liaise with parents, and set working targets to ensure effective communication within the nursery.
- Provide all children with equal opportunities regardless of religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural, or linguistic background; actively challenge any instances of racism or discrimination.
- Keep development records and observations.
- Manage children's behavior positively.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of playrooms and equipment.
- Supervise and mentor Nursery Assistants and Students.
- Set a good example for staff and assist new staff in integrating into the nursery.
- Maintain and monitor accident, incident, and risk assessment records.
- Supervise meals and mealtimes; prepare bottles for babies where appropriate.
- Perform laundry duties.
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled by the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager.
- Participate in parents' evenings, publicity events, open weekends, and children's outings.
- Perform any additional duties as directed by the Deputy Manager and Manager.
