Your role in the Team

The Site Reliability Engineer Team Lead (SRE Team Lead) will manage a team of SREs to proactively ensure the stability, resilience, and scalability of our services through automation, testing, and engineering.

The SRE Lead will collaborate with development, architecture, and service management teams to ensure technical solutions align with IG's architectural principles, designs, and NFRs, delivering value to customers with consistent monitoring, logging, and alerting.

The SRE Lead reports to the Head of Platform Engineering and is responsible for building capability and maturing operational practices across multiple cross-functional delivery teams, focusing on technical excellence and a high-performance culture.

What you’ll do

  • Provide leadership and guidance across the SRE team, acting as a subject matter expert and leading best practice techniques.
  • Lead and influence teams to ensure quality and operational excellence, continuously improving systems and processes.
  • Ensure system observability, security, data integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Establish a metrics-based organization, develop key operational metrics (preferably SLOs), and promote continuous improvement.
  • Simplify and automate highly complex and manual processes.
  • Oversee the SRE team to ensure involvement in every step of the application software development lifecycle, including product design, development, testing, and transition into operation.

What you’ll need for this role

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related fields, or equivalent experience in building scalable solutions to improve service reliability and efficiency.
  • Experience with object-oriented or scripting languages such as Java or Python for DevOps/SRE solutions.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
  • + years’ experience managing engineering teams.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • AWS or cloud experience (preferable but not mandatory).
