An established industry player is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead data governance initiatives. Business Data Technologies (BDT) provides trustworthy, intuitive, and cost-efficient solutions for Amazonians to secure, store, analyze, and transform this data at unparalleled scale. BDT owns, develops, and operates Andes, one of the largest data lakes in the world, storing more than 2 exabytes of data, read/written to by 100k+ data pipelines, with >60k monthly active users. To do this, we need extraordinary individuals to build the next generation of data analytics, machine learning, and AI solutions for thousands of scientists, engineers, and analysts who rely upon us to get their jobs done in a safe and secure manner.
Data Governance is a critical function of an enterprise datalake. The org ensures data is ingested, persisted and consumed in a manner that is compliant with Amazon policies and law of the land. The BDT Data Governance organization works to ensure that users of the Andes data lake and policy owners have a consistent and seamless experience complying with Amazon’s data handling policies across multiple Amazon teams, applications, UIs, APIs, CDK and CLIs. The Data Governance organization enables core user journeys while reducing the cognitive load for users.
BDT Sr. Program Managers - Tech (TPM) deliver results in collaboration with Engineering teams and Principal Engineers to create clean architectures that support coherent and intuitive user experiences. A senior TPM will drive three essential pillars: serve as the subject matter expert for ensuring effective implementation of privacy obligations while maintaining clear regulatory documentation, lead technical design initiatives across infrastructure and business teams, and execute technical implementation while managing dependencies and escalating key risks. The tools we build should support privacy-by-design practices and demonstrate Amazon's commitment to protecting customer data in compliance with global regulations. This role contributes to Amazon's strategic Data Governance direction while building compliance frameworks for regulations like GDPR and data access policies. The position requires active participation in high-stakes decisions alongside senior business, technology, legal, and public policy leaders.
The ideal candidate combines expertise in data governance technology with strong system architecture judgment and the ability to translate compliance requirements into detailed technical designs. You will drive cross-service technical decisions, define technical requirements, oversee system design, maintain accountability for technical changes across multiple systems, and engage with worldwide senior leadership through quarterly reviews, organizational planning, and s-team updates.
We seek an experienced leader with a strong technical program management or software engineering background, demonstrated success in technical innovation, and proven ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.

- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 3+ years of software development experience
- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
