This hands-on role involves a broad scope of responsibilities, including ensuring the timely and compliant filing of direct and indirect tax returns for a portfolio of EMEA entities within a fast-growing, private equity-backed group. The ideal candidate should be comfortable in a dynamic environment, focusing on process improvements and efficiencies as the company continues to grow through acquisitions. The role offers exposure to a wide range of tax topics across Europe, alongside overseeing day-to-day compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing year-end tax returns, coordinating with local advisors to ensure compliance in UK, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Poland, Ireland, Italy, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Spain, Finland, and Sweden.
  • Calculate and submit advance tax payments across these countries.
  • Supervise VAT return filings for all the above countries, managing external and internal queries to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with ad-hoc tax compliance issues, researching with advisors and coordinating internal process changes.
  • Handle R&D claims.
  • Ensure transfer pricing calculations are accurate, coordinating with internal teams for revisions if needed.
  • Submit Tax Residency Certificates across EMEA.
  • Assist with EMEA accounting and reconciliation of tax accounts.
  • Support year-end global provisions for consolidated group audits under US GAAP.
  • Assist with implementing tax engine and e-invoicing software to ensure compliance with the European Commission’s VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) proposal.
  • Support dealing with the impact of BEPS 2.0: Pillar One and Pillar Two on the group.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong knowledge of technical accounting principles, backed by a recognized professional accountancy qualification.
  • High level of commitment and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Disciplined self-starter with a 'can-do' attitude, capable of working within a matrix organization.
  • Critical eye for accuracy, data integrity, and process improvements.
  • Flexible and adaptable mindset, experienced in change management and maintaining calm under pressure.
  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to analyze large and complex datasets and summarize findings effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Required: Solid understanding of accounting standards and experience working in a tax department, preferably in commerce or practice, with experience across Europe—not necessarily in every country, but with experience dealing with taxes outside the UK.
  • Preferred: Experience in accounting/finance within a global software industry.
  • Recognized accounting qualification (CIMA, ACA, ACCA).
