Job Description

Renesas develops next generation computing platforms for applications in Autonomous Vehicles, Advanced Driver Assist Systems, Industrial Automation etc. These require complex and innovative strategies to manage and mitigate faults safely to avoid risk of injury. The Functional Safety Competence Center is involved in critical safety analysis and assessments in the automotive industry, where ensuring the reliability and safety of hardware components is of utmost importance.

Responsibilities of the Team:

1. Perform Technical Assessment: Assessing automotive hardware components such as microcontrollers (MCU), system-on-chip (SoC), analog components, and power systems in alignment with the functional safety standard ISO26262.

2. Provide Safety Analysis: Providing independent safety analysis for hardware products, especially assessing their capability to withstand and operate safely in the presence of random hardware faults.

3. Fault Injection Simulations: Fault injection simulations to guide hardware design and make it more robust against random hardware faults.

4. Global Collaboration: Coordinate, lead, and collaborate closely with global teams spanning the company's worldwide operations.


Qualifications

To be a successful candidate for this role, the following qualifications and attributes are desired:

1. Educational Background: An ideal candidate should have an honours degree in Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline, indicating a strong foundation in technical knowledge.

2. Work Experience: Candidates should have experience in digital or analogue semiconductor hardware design, experiences in Functional Safety and microcontroller design is a plus.

3. Problem-Solving Skills: The role requires strong problem-solving abilities, which are essential for assessing hardware safety and guiding design improvements.

4. Cross-Cultural Collaboration: Candidates should be comfortable working with international and multicultural colleagues, as the position involves coordination with global teams.
