Job summary

Cognizant in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced software engineer skilled in Python and cloud-native architectures to design, build, test and operate scalable applications and APIs.

You will manage AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code, collaborating with product, architecture and delivery teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions throughout design, development, deployment and operations.

Experienced software engineer with strong Python development skills and a solid understanding of cloud-native architectures. Responsible for designing, building, testing and operating scalable applications and APIs, while maintaining the AWS infrastructure and CI/CD platforms that support them.

The role combines hands-on software engineering with cloud and platform expertise, enabling teams to deliver secure, reliable and maintainable services. You'll contribute across the full development lifecycle, from solution design and coding through to deployment, monitoring and operational support.

Key role and responsibilities:

• Design, develop and maintain Python applications, APIs and backend services.
• Build and operate cloud-native solutions using AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, Fargate, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch etc.).
• Develop infrastructure and application deployments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Collaborate with product, architecture and delivery teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Monitor application and platform health, troubleshoot incidents and drive continuous improvement
• Design and manage APIs throughout their lifecycle, including documentation, security, governance and analytics

Key skills for this role:

• Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Terraform)
• Proficiency with AWS cloud tools and architecture, including deploying microservices using ECS, ECR and Fargate
• Hands-on experience with Python

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
