We are looking for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join our Letchworth Team!
As our Sr. Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for designing and analysing moderately complex electro-mechanical systems through the product life cycle. Conducting & reporting on feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directing support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication.
Location: Letchworth, UK
Using Solidworks 3D CAD for electro-mechanical packaging.
Designing to meet MIL-STD-810, DO160 qualification standards.
Product life cycle development from concept design through to obsolescence management.
Liaising with internal/external stakeholders i.e. Production, QA, Suppliers
Technical support to failure investigations and creating formal reports.
Providing clear guidance to the engineering team and assure that design solution processes are airworthy.
What You Bring
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
At least 5 years’ experience in electro-mechanical design within an aerospace / automotive / medical / safety-critical environment.
Demonstrated high performance and achievement in full product development life cycle (including system design, development, integration, test, verification).
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high quality solutions
Familiar with designing for rugged systems housing PCBAs, subjected to environmental/EMC testing
Familiar with design for manufacture principles (Machining, Sheet Metal, FDM printing)
Experience in Finite Element Analysis / Computational Fluid Dynamics is desirable but not essential
