Sr. Manufacturing Engineer

Position Summary

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer plans, specs, and designs equipment, processes, assembly tooling, and assembly line layout to coordinate activities for New Product Introduction (NPI) and continuation projects. They ensure process design supports manufacturing of products to meet quality standards while minimizing costs and production issues. The role involves developing and maintaining manufacturing line layouts to optimize space, efficiency, and effectiveness, while ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards. The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer contributes to moderately complex engineering projects.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • NPI process design and process sustaining
  • Design and integration of manufacturing tooling
  • Advanced CAD design for automation and assembly tooling, gauges, and fixturing
  • Design tooling for CNC machining for cost efficiency
  • Develop and maintain NPI assembly line plans
  • Lead tooling, process, and automation equipment reviews
  • Train production teams with certification criteria
  • Create and maintain SOPs or work instructions per ISO standards
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and develop solutions
  • Develop project timelines and assembly line schedules
  • Lead training for new processes and tooling
  • Perform design reviews with product designers and peers
  • Maintain documentation, files, procedures, and schematics
  • Build prototypes to test complex processes
  • Collaborate with product designers, project managers, and manufacturing staff
  • Complete work within schedule and budget, maintaining quality
  • Plan for long-term process control improvements
  • Develop and update procedures, work instructions, and training materials
  • Occasional travel required
  • Participate in and uphold 5S standards
  • Follow all safety and ISO procedures
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
Education, Experience & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Automation, Electrical, or related engineering field, with 7-10 years of manufacturing experience
  • Experience developing automation processes and equipment
  • Fixture design experience using CAD software such as SOLIDWORKS
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, process control, circuits, and mechanical systems
  • Experience with electronics, pneumatics, automation, PLCs, motion controls, and programming software
  • Programming skills in C++ and Visual Basic are a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; experience with Access is desirable
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Hands-on experience with equipment, machining, and fabrication is advantageous
  • Firearm and optics industry knowledge is a strong plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Working Conditions
  • Prolonged sitting at a desk, working on a computer
  • Ability to handle physical tasks such as reaching, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
  • Compliance with EH&S training and security policies
