Job Description

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You will be a core technical contributor responsible for delivering technology solutions across multiple areas within various business functions to support the firm's objectives.

Within the Data Analytics team, you will be responsible for applications that store large amounts of cross-asset market data using KDB technology for real-time and historical access. This is an exciting time as we migrate to AWS, re-architect our applications, and build out greenfield projects.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions, thinking beyond routine approaches to solve complex problems.
  2. Develop secure, high-quality production code, review, and debug code written by others.
  3. Identify opportunities to automate or remediate recurring issues to improve system stability.
  4. Lead communities of practice to promote awareness and adoption of new technologies.
  5. Contribute to a team culture emphasizing diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
  6. Develop core systems and frameworks based on KDB.
  7. Manage team work via book of work, improve processes through SDLC, testing, and continuous coding standards improvement.
  8. Create scalable real-time processing solutions using agile methodologies.
  9. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
  10. Partner with support teams to maintain and support the platform.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  1. Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with advanced practical experience.
  2. Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  3. Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
  4. Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  5. Experience with agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  6. Leadership experience in requirements gathering, task planning, and delivery.
  7. At least 7 years of professional experience with KDB and 2+ years in a lead role.
  8. Expertise in KDB+tick design, data organization, and performance optimization.
  9. Experience managing large datasets and optimizing query performance.
  10. Experience scaling and load balancing KDB applications, ensuring high availability.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  1. Experience with market data venues and vendor data platforms.
  2. AWS cloud experience.
  3. Knowledge of Terraform and Kubernetes in production environments.
  4. Proficiency in additional languages such as Python, C, C++, or Java.
