Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Commercial & Investment Bank’s Electronic Trading Technology team. You will design and deliver high-performance, scalable real-time trading and research solutions for a global financial environment.

You will lead global analytics engineers, mentor teams, and champion best practices in Python, KDB/Q, AI, and cloud-native architectures, enabling reliable, secure, and compliant systems across markets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in large-scale financial environments.
• Experience delivering system design, development, testing and operational stability for analytics teams.
• Proficiency in Python, KDB or C++ for real-time data processing and data engineering.
• Experience with AI technologies to support data engineering and SDLC automation.
• Strong CI/CD, application resiliency, security practices in Agile environments.
• Experience leading and mentoring globally distributed teams.

Job description

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:

• 5+ years of applied experience in software engineering within large-scale, fast-paced financial environments.
• Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability for analytics-driven teams.
• Strong expertise in Python, KDB, or C++ for real-time data processing, application development, or data engineering.
• Working knowledge of AI technologies such as machine learning or generative AI to support data engineering, analytics, or SDLC automation.
• Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods, with advanced understanding of agile methodologies including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• Experience leading and mentoring teams in a global, collaborative environment.
• Ability to tackle complex design and functionality problems independently and drive solutions across distributed teams.
• Academic background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Experience with market data venue and vendor data platforms is preferred.
• AWS experience, with practical cloud-native or cloud experience, is a plus.
• Experience with Terraform and Kubernetes for managing production environments in public cloud is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of FIX, Market Data, Analytics, OMS, and equities trading in global markets is an asset.
• Knowledge of machine learning, statistical techniques, and related libraries is preferred.

• Mentor and develop team members, manage book of work, and drive continuous improvement in SDLC, testing, and coding standards across distributed teams.
• Influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations/processes to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving financial landscape.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in Python, KDB/Q, data engineering, and AI, contributing to firmwide best practices and technical excellence.
