Job Description:

Our valued client is looking for a Sr. Google Cloud Engineer to harden the cloud security environment for a newly established GCP environment

This role can be conducted remotely, or hybrid in Ottawa

Tasks include:

  • Support recently implemented GCP to harden the cloud environment with guardrails, data sovereignty policies, etc.
  • A landing zone has been established, and support is needed, using CI/CD pipeline for to update the environment
  • Enable prescribed controls in support of PBMM (Protected B Medium Integrity Medium Availability), going through requirements, enabling them, and making sure they're valid (hands-on)
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across IT, and business teams to gather requirements and ensure the new platform meets all needs.
  • Establish best practices for data governance, security, and compliance, ensuring adherence to relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Design and implement monitoring and alerting for the new data platform to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Work with engineering teams to ensure scalability, performance optimization, and cost-efficiency in the cloud environment.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to internal teams throughout the migration and beyond.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in data architecture, cloud computing, and big data solutions

Must have:

  • Eligible for the organization's internal security clearance
  • Recent experience working with GCP, both with an architectural mindset, and hands-on
  • Experience working in a Protected B environment and setting up rules around it in cloud

Nice to have:

  • Any relevant GCP certifications are a plus
  • Previous work in a security role, ideally supporting GCP
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in data engineering environments
