About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer responsible for designing and developing software solutions that automate internal and external products and platforms. Your role will be crucial in enhancing News Corp's operations by reducing manual tasks and simplifying technology choices through self-service options, API integrations, and paved paths.

This position requires the ability to multitask, work independently, and collaborate with geographically distributed teams. You will report to the Principal Platform Engineer within the Global Platform Engineering team.

Responsibilities:

1. Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance, and reliable software applications.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define technical specifications, and ensure successful project delivery.
3. Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and standards.
4. Conduct testing and debugging to ensure optimal functionality.
5. Stay updated with emerging technologies and contribute to process improvements.
6. Mentor junior engineers and support their professional growth.
7. Translate business needs into technical solutions through stakeholder collaboration.
8. Participate in code reviews and documentation of software architecture and processes.
9. Engage in continuous learning to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

• At least 4 years of hands-on software development experience with a proven record of delivering quality solutions.
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with Go.
• Strong understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities in cross-functional teams.
• Ability to adapt, work independently, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
• Passion for continuous learning and staying current with industry trends.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.

Desired Technology Knowledge:

• Terraform, Packer, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts.
• Kubernetes, containers, and related tooling.
• Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and GitOps practices.
