Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe operation of the LNG fleet across Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Silversea brands.
- Develop and implement LNG shipboard and shoreside procedures aligned with company standards.
- Verify and oversee the design and implementation of LNG systems on new ships.
- Lead initiatives for fleet energy efficiency and carbon emissions reduction.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies to enhance fleet sustainability.
- Create strategic plans for compliance with IMO environmental regulations and decarbonization goals.
- Conduct feasibility analyses and develop business cases for energy retrofits.
- Establish KPIs to monitor operational efficiency and environmental performance.
- Develop energy management systems and track vessel efficiency.
- Coordinate energy retrofit investments for cost savings and sustainability.
- Lead data analytics efforts to improve voyage and technical performance.
- Analyze decarbonization strategies, including financial modeling and project evaluation.
- Drive operational excellence through data-driven decision-making.
- Facilitate digitalization initiatives like mobile operations and energy management platforms.
- Collaborate with industry vendors to optimize fuel use and regulatory compliance.
- Attend conferences and build networks to stay abreast of industry trends.
- Manage continuous improvement projects and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Report regularly on retrofit progress and coating strategies to executives.
- Maintain an energy technology toolbox for ongoing enhancements.
- Promote diversity and inclusive thinking within the team.
Knowledge & Skills
- Background in Marine, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or Naval Architecture, with experience in shipping or classification societies.
- Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in engineering or related fields.
- 15+ years in vessel operations, energy management, or fleet optimization, with leadership experience.
- Strong technical, analytical, and programming skills.
- Excellent communication skills for cross-department collaboration.
- Experience in project management and financial analysis.
- Deep understanding of ship systems and energy management.
- Long-term financial planning and project management expertise.
- Knowledge of cruise line operations is a plus.
- Organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
Financial Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strategic and financial plans for fleet retrofit projects.
- Explain variances from budgets with support from finance teams.
