Job description

The Data Science Consultant provides services that maximize the value of the customer’s business through data-driven insights and enhanced decision support. This role will be responsible for advising the customer, recommending software configuration alternatives, and implementing the software to optimize solutions, enabling the customer to realize maximum value from the software.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide analytical services as part of a team conducting proofs-of-concept and identifying opportunities to create customer value.
2. Perform data analysis to discover patterns, trends, and anomalies in customer data, translate results into actionable insights, and present recommendations to improve data quality.
3. Extract and present data stories from customer data sets to demonstrate the value of solutions and guide customer priorities.
4. Assist customers in identifying project success metrics.
5. Collaborate with team members to understand domain issues and customer requirements, translating them into model enhancements and tuning activities.
6. Build, configure, and train models to support project objectives, and run simulations and what-if analyses for alternative scenarios.
7. Support the delivery of solutions by making recommendations and providing quantitative evidence of results.
8. Stay updated with industry trends in data science and improve team tools and methodologies.
9. Travel to customer and team locations as required (around 10%).

Qualifications:

• PhD and additional European language skills are a plus.
• Graduate degree in Operations Research, Statistics, or a related field is required; advanced knowledge of machine learning is preferred.
• Ability to elicit and understand customer knowledge regarding business objectives and policies.
• Skilled at translating complex data into business insights and opportunities.
• Effective at communicating analytic insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with retail, pricing, and supply chain management processes is preferred.
• Proficiency in scripting languages, preferably Python, for data analytics and machine learning.
• Experience in creating dashboards, visualizations, and reports.
• Ability to work with large datasets and select relevant data subsets.
