Job summary

ExxonMobil Global Trading seeks a seasoned Crude Trader to lead complex European crude trading across the Mediterranean, Black Sea and Europe. You will optimize physical and paper positions, manage risk, and build networks with counterparties to maximize value across routes.

The role demands deep market knowledge, strategic hedging, and a robust track record in delivering profitable strategies in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years trading experience in crude markets and complex asset management.
  • Deep knowledge of European crude customers, logistics and market dynamics.
  • Proven track record trading crude in Europe with profitable long/short strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Trade Mediterranean, Black Sea and Persian Gulf grades into and across Europe
  • Identify, evaluate, and execute tactical trading opportunities for profit while maintaining system balance and adhering to risk limits
  • Manage complex trades requiring hedging strategies, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and risk management frameworks
  • Develop and execute profitable trading strategies using market fundamentals and asset optionality, in combination with delivering optimum crude supply to a large refining system
  • Manage positions, logistics, and inventory in collaboration with Operations and Scheduling teams.
  • Monitor global market trends and communicate insights across the trading organization.
  • Identify value opportunities in arbitrage, freight and re-optimisation of existing cargoes and assets.
  • Demonstrate expert Trade Money Management practices in setting targets and managing VaR / drawdown
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all transactions and contracts throughout the trade life cycle in relevant systems
  • Ensure strict compliance with company policies, regulations, and risk controls.
  • Build strong relationships with counterparties, refiners, brokers, and customers

What role you will play in our team

ExxonMobil Global Trading is seeking an experienced Crude Trader to join our growing Mediterranean and Black Sea trading team. This role requires a deep understanding of the physical crude trading markets in Europe, with domain knowledge within Mediterranean and Black Sea markets an advantage. The trading portfolio will consist of managing multiple physical and paper positions across crude grades over local and arbitrage trade routes with a focus on building a network of counterparties, high-grading the value on term crude length and shorts while effectively managing risk.

What you will do

About you

  • Proven success trading crude in Europe with the ability to develop system of long and short assets into a profitable trading strategy
  • Strong risk management, including experience hedging physical exposures
  • Deep understanding of supply/demand fundamentals, trade flows, and arbitrage economics.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of commodity risk management practices, including hedging, exposure management, VAR concepts, and derivatives market mechanics.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic market environment.
