Job summary

ExxonMobil is seeking a Crude Analyst to join the Global Trading team in the UK. You will support the crude trading desk with high-impact market analysis, data-driven insights, and strategic recommendations across regions.

You will work with traders, senior analysts, and developers to interpret global crude fundamentals, monitor flows, and identify opportunities. A degree in a quantitative field and strong SQL/Python skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field (Economics/Engineering/Data Science).
• Proven experience in Crude Oil market analytics, preferably in a trading environment.
• Strong understanding of global crude oil flows, macro trends and pricing.
• Technical proficiency in SQL, Python, Excel, and Power BI for data analysis and visualization.
• Experience building and maintaining supply and demand models and trading dashboards.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive Crude Oil analytics across the North Sea, WAF and MED desks, establishing cross-regional trading strategies.
• Build and maintain global and regional supply & demand models for crude and refined products.
• Forecast balances and identify market dislocations using proprietary and third-party data sources.
• Collaborate with traders to assess market risks and opportunities and provide actionable insights.
• Develop dashboards, scorecards, and regular strategy meetings to inform decision-making.
• Develop analytics databases and visualization tools using SQL, Python, Excel, and Power BI; streamline data ingestion.

What role you will play on our team

As a Crude Analyst, you will be at the heart of our trading operations, supporting the crude trading desk with high-impact market analysis, data-driven insights, and strategic recommendations. You will work closely with traders, senior analysts, and developers to interpret global crude oil fundamentals, monitor physical and financial flows, and identify trading opportunities across regions.

What you will do

Strategic Leadership:

• Define and drive Crude Oil analytics across the North Sea, WAF and MED desks, establishing cross-regional trading strategies.

Market Fundamentals & Forecasting:

• Build and maintain global and regional supply & demand models for crude and refined products.
• Forecast balances and identify market dislocations using proprietary and third-party data sources.

Trading Strategy Support:

• Collaborate with traders to assess market risks and opportunities.
• Provide actionable insights through dashboards, scorecards, and regular strategy meetings.
• Suggest and implement trade strategies based on market fundamentals.

Data Infrastructure & Visualisation:

• Develop and maintain analytics databases and visualisation tools using SQL, Python, Excel, and Power BI.
• Work with developers to streamline data ingestion and querying processes.

Reporting & Communication:

• Prepare weekly and monthly market reports, lead discussions on macroeconomic trends, and present market views to senior stakeholders across trading and management teams.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

• Liaise with global trading offices in Houston and Singapore to align market views and support portfolio decisions.
• Engage with physical and derivative desks to ensure a holistic understanding of market dynamics.

About you

We are looking for a candidate with:

• A degree in Economics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Proven experience in Crude Oil market analytics, preferably within a trading environment.
• Strong understanding of global crude oil flows, macroeconomic trends, and commodity pricing.
• Technical proficiency in SQL, Python, Excel, and Power BI for data analysis and visualisation.
• Experience building and maintaining supply & demand models and trading dashboards.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
• A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Exposure to derivatives trading and physical market operations is highly desirable.
