Sr. Contracts Manager

Build the Future

We're seeking a Senior Contracts Manager to join the Contract Management (CM) team within Global Procurement Operations (GPO) at McGraw Hill. You will focus on business transactions and commercial agreements with the overall aim of providing best-in-class contracts service to our internal business clients and protecting the legal and business interests of the company.

How Will You Make an Impact?

In this role, you'll lead the negotiation and management of commercial agreements, support Assistant General Counsels, and collaborate with Global Procurement and business stakeholders on deal structures. You'll help manage the full contract lifecycle, contribute to continuous process improvement, and ensure alignment with internal policies and strategic goal.

What can you expect from the position:

  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of complex legal agreements, including IP/IT, content development, professional/consulting services and general commercial.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders across Global Procurement Operations to ensure a consistent, goal-driven approach to the service we provide (e.g. AP, supplier set-up, procurement, contingent labor).
  • Manage, mentor and train other members of the CM team.
  • Interact with teams outside GPO to ensure that we consult and adhere to various policies and protocols (e.g. data ethics, accessibility, tax) which are designed to protect MH as it engages with third parties.
  • Actively contributes to the strategic direction and goals of CM and GPO.
  • Operate within a fast-paced environment and provide a timely service in line with internal expectations/SLAs.
  • Manage tracking of work, data and reporting required for CM.
  • Interact with systems, processes and technology as part of CM and GPO workflows.
  • Manage and coordinate the development of projects, resources and tools that will assist with and improve CM's work and business user understanding (e.g. playbooks, guidance, live training, blog posts, Spark updates)
  • Remain up to date on legal and other developments that relate to the work we do.

What can you bring to the role:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of applicable experience.
  • Experience in commercial law, including contract negotiation and management
  • Demonstrative experience of independently draft and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft tools, especially Word
  • Preferred In-house legal experience in a corporate setting
  • Experience in publishing/edtech/technology industries
