Overview
The Sr. Business Development (BD) Coordinator works with and supports the London Governing Partners (LGP) in implementation of strategic elements of respective BD plans and programs for assigned departments, industry teams and key clients of the London office. The Sr. BD Coordinator would interface directly with the LGP, lawyers and firm resources to ensure coordination, consistency of approach and effective communication and also report into a Senior BD Manager in the US.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Identify strategies and opportunities for expanding client relationships led by LGP and lawyers.
- Collaborate with other MBD professionals (e.g., Communications, PR, Website and Events professionals) to ensure successful execution of business development plan components and to identify potential cross-selling opportunities/introductions as needed.
- Lead new business opportunities in collaboration with our in-house pitch team.
- Collaborate with the competitive intelligence team for customized reports that are aligned with pitches, strategic opportunities and the firm’s strategic plan to the benefit of designated practices, industry teams and key clients.
- Assist with the execution of marketing and business development strategies, plans and projects including the tracking and follow-up of specific efforts.
- Manage practice/industry accolades and submissions to ensure best positioning, robust experience and spotlight attorneys are showcased with each opportunity.
- Manage events, in-house conferences, seminars, webinars, receptions, sponsorships, speaking engagements including follow-up and ROI tracking.
- Support senior managers with lateral integration efforts, tracking and reporting as required.
- Develop and enhance existing collateral, experience and messaging.
- Handle special projects, as assigned, e.g., associate business development plans.
Supplemental Functions:
Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in marketing, business and practice development in legal or a related field.
- Ability to understand the "big picture," determine role within it and offer suggestions/ recommendations on how to achieve goals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work well under pressure. Requires flexibility and adaptability in a competitive business and professional environment.
- Strong client service mentality and proactive approach.
- Proven ability to exercise professional judgment.
- Excellent time management, organizational and multitasking skills.
- Proven ability to connect and build relationships across disciplines and geographies.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills to effectively navigate a diverse group of attorneys and staff.
- Ability to analyze situations and make decisions quickly and effectively.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong knowledge of relevant existing and new technology.
- Solid attention to detail ensuring a quality product.
- Strong budget management practices including analysis & reporting.
- Willingness to attend events out of hours and travel as needed.
