We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr Account Director, Business Development within our newly formed group, Real World Evidence/Data (RWE/D). Since our recent acquisition of CorEvitas, we have identified an opportunity to launch this new group, combining Non-Interventional Studies (NIS) and Real World Evidence and Data Solutions (RWDS) efforts.

We are seeking candidates at the Sr Account Director level.

The Business Development (BD) role will secure and retain business for PPD through professional, consultative, proactive sales activities directed at decision-makers and decision influencers at existing and new clinical sponsors. The goal is to position PPD as a primary or preferred provider for all clinical development work to be outsourced. Responsibilities include qualifying deals, developing proposals, defining solutions, and recommending pricing structures to meet strategic company goals. The Sr Account Director will serve as the primary contact until the work is sold, then coordinate with relevant clinical development areas to ensure successful implementation. Additionally, they will act as a liaison between sponsors and the company on all business development activities and requirements, and gather data on marketing trends, competitive products/services, and pricing.

Essential Functions
  • Client Account & Relationship Management
  • Client Account Development to drive new business opportunities across consulting practice areas
  • Drive client account strategy and development through strategic and tactical account planning in partnership with scientific research delivery teams
  • Collaborate with sales operations, finance, legal, and other internal support functions to drive and close business and achieve sales targets
Qualifications

This role requires consultative, proactive sales activities directed at decision-makers and decision influencers at existing and new client contacts. Proactively find and qualify opportunities, define solutions, and recommend pricing structures to meet strategic goals. Serve as the primary contact until project KO, then coordinate with relevant business areas to ensure successful implementation. Act as a liaison between Evidera business units and PPD CRG on all business development activities and requirements.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Orchestrate RFP strategy calls, develop client proposals, prepare presentations, and negotiate and close contracts. Sign new business authorizations at or above the assigned goal.
  • Make cold calls and client visits; maintain sales database; track activity reports.
  • Ensure client satisfaction through periodic contact, report and develop recommendations to address dissatisfaction, and respond to all client requests.
Qualifications: Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification
  • Previous experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 8+ years’ or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Scientific, sales, and/or marketing background with concentration in pharmaceutical/biotech area
  • Proven track record of developing mid and high-level business contacts
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to manage and expand relationships with Operations, Finance, and Marketing
  • Experience in identifying and developing sales leads, making professional presentations, managing sales processes, and contract negotiations
  • Understanding of sales automation systems and Microsoft Office
  • Clinical selling/RWE experience
