Job summary
Jackson Hogg Ltd is seeking an experienced Database Reliability Engineer to join our growing technology function. You will ensure performance, availability and resilience of SQL Server environments across the business and work with infrastructure, application and development teams to optimise backend data systems.
The role combines traditional DBA duties with reliability engineering, focusing on automation, incident resolution and continuous improvement of database operations in Azure
Qualifications
- 5+ years in Database Admin/Engineer/DR/RE roles.
- Strong SQL Server 2012+ experience.
- Advanced T-SQL with performance tuning focus.
- Experience with Azure SQL and Azure Managed Instance.
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical expert for SQL Server environments across the business.
- Monitor database performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Optimise T-SQL, DB design, indexing, and query performance.
- Support Azure SQL and Azure Managed Instance environments.
- Develop automation for patching, upgrades, and maintenance tasks.
- Manage backup, recovery and disaster recovery processes for business continuity.
- Investigate incidents and resolve database-related issues while applying security best practices.
- Produce and maintain technical runbooks and support procedures.
- Collaborate with developers and wider teams to support deployments and continuous improvement.
