MMC is seeking a candidate for SQL Server Database Administrator to work from Birmingham or Bristol office on a hybrid schedule of 3 days a week in the office.
Responsibilities:
- This position is for an established and productive professional individual contributor in Information Technology, who works independently with minimal supervision.
- We are a large team responsible across AUS, UK, Canada & US for significant databases and projects related to our Oracle environment.
- We offer an emerging and varied role with a stimulating range of duties and responsibilities.
- A hybrid work environment that includes 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
We will count on you to:
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Work closely with offshore team to ensure smooth transition of work handover if required.
- Resolve configuration and performance issues.
- Have a good understanding of active-active clusters and disaster recovery failover knowledge.
- Be flexible with working hours, as the role is part of the on-call rotation over the weekend.
Requirements:
- Previous DBA experience with SQL Server versions 2016 and above.
- Experience in installation and configuration of SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS of SQL version 2016 and higher.
- Involvement in capacity planning, backup, and recovery strategies.
- Configure Log Shipping, Mirroring, Clustering.
- Hands-on experience with implementation of TDE. Knowledge or experience with Azure Key Vault is a plus.
- Experience in index tuning, performance counters, and query store.
- T-SQL and PowerShell scripting skills are advantageous.
- Good knowledge of active-active clustering, data partitioning, and multi-threaded environments.
- Troubleshooting database-related alerts.
Preferred qualities:
- Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity tools and processes.
- Experience solving complex problems requiring conceptualization and reasoning.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
