Job summary

Investigo Change Solutions is seeking a DV-cleared SQL Server Architect for a London-based transformation project. The role focuses on designing enterprise-grade SQL Server architectures, optimizing performance, and delivering HA/DR on AWS, with SharePoint integration and strong governance.

The role is hybrid with London onsite 3-4 days per week, initially 3 months with potential extension. DV clearance and senior-level expertise are required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a SQL Server Architect with 10+ years of SQL Server architecture, design, and operational expertise across SQL Server 2016 and later versions.

Responsibilities

• Provide architectural guidance for SQL Server workloads in AWS (EC2, EBS, FSx, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, Route 53).
• Design and implement high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions (Always On, AGs, FCI, log shipping, replication).
• Support large SharePoint environments with database architecture, performance tuning, and operational support.
• Assess options and recommend architectures balancing performance, maintainability, and cost.
• Engage stakeholders and document findings for technical and business audiences.

SQL Server Architect - DV Clearance, Cloud Resilience & High Availability (AWS)

£610 per day - Inside IR35
London (Hybrid, 3-4 days onsite per week)
3 months initially with strong likelihood of extension

My client is seeking a DV Cleared SQL Server Architect to support a major transformation programme for a large-scale SharePoint platform. Having previously delivered an enterprise-grade on-premises SharePoint solution with full disaster recovery and resilience, the client is now migrating to SharePoint Subscription Edition hosted on AWS.

Key Requirements

• Proven experience as a SQL Server Architect with 10+ years of SQL Server architecture, design, and operational expertise across SQL Server 2016 and later versions.
• Extensive hands-on experience delivering SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances (FCI), log shipping, replication, and enterprise HA/DR solutions.
• Strong background supporting large-scale SharePoint environments, including SharePoint database architecture, performance, and operational support.
• Deep understanding of SQL Server performance optimisation, including indexing strategies, storage performance, I/O optimisation, concurrency management, and wait-stat analysis.
• Experience designing and implementing SQL Server workloads within AWS, including EC2, EBS, FSx, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, AWS Backup, and Route 53.
• Strong networking knowledge relating to SQL Server clustering, Availability Groups, Listener configuration, DNS failover, and resilience design patterns.
• Ability to assess architecture options and provide technical recommendations based on performance, operational complexity, maintainability, and cost.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, documentation, and communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to both technical and business audiences.
