Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking an experienced SPS Subsea Control Systems Lead to support a major offshore gas development project. You will take technical leadership of the SPS Control System, overseeing engineering, procurement, fabrication, testing and installation.

The role requires managing interfaces between subsea equipment, topside control and safety systems, and coordinating HMI, testing campaigns and FAT/EFAT/SIT. UK-based with international travel and overseas relocation planned.

Qualifications

• 15+ years' Oil & Gas industry experience.
• At least 10 years' experience within Subsea Production Systems (SPS).
• Proven subsea control systems experience on major EPC/EPCI projects.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Lead all technical activities for the SPS Subsea Control System across engineering, procurement, fabrication, testing and installation.
• Manage integration of SPS control equipment with topside ICSS, ESD and shutdown systems.
• Develop and coordinate technical specifications for SPS control system integration, software, shutdown logic, communications and network interfaces.
• Manage control system interfaces with other subsea packages, structures and equipment.
• Coordinate development and integration of HMI and control system mimics.
• Define and oversee testing campaigns to validate interfaces between subsea and topside control systems.
• Review contractor engineering documentation, technical queries, deviations and qualification documentation.
• Review power, communications and hydraulic analyses to ensure overall system operability.
• Manage control system interface issues in collaboration with other technical and interface disciplines.
• Oversee contractor and sub-supplier activities, ensuring project technical, quality and HSE requirements are met.
• Participate in supplier audits, technical reviews and equipment inspections.
• Supervise fabrication and testing activities across multiple locations.
• Follow up and witness FAT, EFAT and SIT activities.
• Support pre-commissioning, commissioning and offshore installation activities.
• Support cybersecurity requirements for control system workstations and infrastructure.
• Promote strong HSE, quality, engineering and ethical standards throughout project execution.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SPS Subsea Control Systems Lead to support a major offshore gas development project.

The successful candidate will take technical leadership of the Subsea Production System (SPS) Control System, covering engineering, procurement, fabrication, testing, delivery, integration, installation and commissioning activities.

The role will involve managing complex interfaces between subsea control equipment, topside control and safety systems, subsea distribution systems and associated offshore infrastructure.

• Support equipment pre-commissioning, commissioning and preparation for offshore installation.


• Support cybersecurity requirements associated with control system workstations and infrastructure.


• Promote strong HSE, quality, engineering and ethical standards throughout project execution.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum 15 years' Oil & Gas industry experience.


• At least 10 years' experience within Subsea Production Systems (SPS).


• Proven experience in subsea control systems on major EPC/EPCI projects.


• Strong technical knowledge of subsea equipment including:

• Strong understanding of relevant international standards including API, ISO and DNV.

Assignment Details

The position will initially be UK-based, with travel to engineering, supplier and fabrication locations internationally as required. The role is expected to transition overseas during the installation phase of the project.

This is a long-term opportunity to take a lead controls position on a complex offshore development, providing technical oversight from detailed engineering and system integration through to testing, commissioning and offshore installation.
