Job summary

Hall & Kay in Birmingham is seeking a skilled sprinkler design engineer to join the regional office. You will design sprinkler systems, coordinate with clients and other trades, and prepare fully designed drawings and quantities for procurement.

You will attend site meetings, perform hydraulic calculations, and ensure designs meet EN 12845 and LPCB standards. A driving licence and willingness to travel are required; the role offers competitive salary and progression in a busy engineering team.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive design experience in sprinkler systems and strong project coordination.
• Excellent knowledge of LPCB standards and EN 12845 design rules.
• Experience with hydraulic calculations and AutoCAD; Revit is desirable.
• Qualification in LPCB and NFPA standards is highly desirable.
• HND or Degree in a construction/engineering design field is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design sprinkler systems and coordinate with client reps and other trades.
• Monitor design programme against construction programme and specs.
• Issue completion documents and certifications.
• Gather information for fully designed drawings from site, architects, consultants and builders.
• Attend site meetings to address design matters.
• Prepare complete working drawings with hydraulic calculations and pipe sizing.
• List materials for procurement, estimates, and rates; forward to suppliers.
• Order materials and monitor equipment levels.
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
