Protec Camerfield Sprinkler & Water Mist Project Manager
£35,000 - £55,000 (dependent on experience)
Manchester/NW

Protec Camerfield have an opportunity for a self-motivated individual who can manage all aspects of mechanical sprinkler or water mist suppression systems. The role requires a pro-active and pragmatic individual who can work alone and as part of a team to collaborate with all relevant contributors for the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of the systems with excellent communication and quality results to our customers. The project manager will have direct involvement from pre-order through to final account and warranty period. This is an opportunity to join a growing diverse team within an expanding sector of the fire industry.

Current and forthcoming projects cover public and private sectors; including custodial, healthcare, hotels, retail, and residential; and range in value from £10k to £5M. Projects are located nationwide and a degree of flexibility in working location may be required. Protec covers all travel and accommodation expenses.

Training, further qualifications, and bonus scheme will be offered to the successful candidate.

Responsibilities
  1. To expertly handle sprinkler or water mist installation contracts from initial enquiry through to final accounts.
  2. Assume full financial control of projects, delivering the works efficiently and profitably, including responsibility for raising purchase and subcontract orders.
  3. Effectively manage the installation work on site; attending regular client meetings; having responsibility for health and safety; producing progress updates and reports; and completion of project quality assurance checks.
  4. Prepare and communicate detailed programmes of work to ensure deadlines and contract requirements are met.
  5. Liaise with suppliers, design, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery and information flow, and accurately report to clients, contractors, and governing bodies as necessary.
  6. Negotiate, monitor, and produce quotations for contract variations.
  7. Highlight possible problem areas at the earliest opportunity and obtain commercial advice where necessary.
  8. Prepare technical reports and submittals including operating and maintenance manuals and handover documents, by collating and presenting relevant information.
  9. Identify and report deviations or nonconformities from scope, Standards or contract.
  10. Ability to travel within the UK, and visit European suppliers as necessary for the role.
  11. Any other duties commensurate with the role.
Qualifications
  1. GCSE in Maths and English
  2. Mechanical engineering qualification
  3. NVQ Level 6 in Construction Management
  4. CSCS Construction Skills Card
  5. Health and Safety Qualification, IOSH, SMSTS, etc.
Experience
  1. Experience of construction project engineering or management
  2. Experience within sprinkler or water mist suppression project engineering or management
  3. Knowledge of current relevant suppression British Standards and Regulations, including LPC 12845, BS 8489, BS 9251, NFPA, FM Global
  4. Knowledge of sprinkler or water mist equipment and installation
