The post holder will be expected to provide Registrar grade cover on a rotational shift basis throughout General surgery including colorectal, benign upper GI, breast, and emergency surgery. They will have to participate in the on-call Registrar rota (1 in 12) and will be expected to supervise the SHOs in service delivery, inpatients, and day services. The post holder will provide a rapid response to A&E to facilitate the 4-hour trolley-wait target and during the on-call shift, will be available solely for emergency duties. This post will support the delivery of colorectal cancer pathways and support with clinics.

Provide registrar level cover on a rotational shift basis throughout General surgery.
Supervise the SHOs in service delivery, in outpatients, inpatients, and day services.
Provide a rapid response to A&E to facilitate the 4-hour trolley-wait target during the on-call shift will be available solely for emergency duties.
Undertake outpatient clinics (Face to face, telephonic and virtual) and operating theatre lists as directed by the consultants.
Able to support the MDT (Colorectal/Breast)
Participate in the Clinical Governance and Risk Assessment process.
Offer a commitment to both postgraduate and undergraduate General Surgery training within the hospital.
Work with the multidisciplinary team.
Take part in the care of patients attending the department, including examination, investigation, diagnosis and treatment.
Liaise with staff of other departments.
Maintain legible records.
Assist in the audit of various aspects of work under the direction of the Audit lead.
Recognize their own limitations and seek advice from the Consultants in their management of patients.
Perform related duties as required, including additional duties arising exceptionally from occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances, and duties essential for the continuity of patient care.
IT skills are essential to support the electronic management of patient pathways.
