Job summary

A leading educational support organization in Newcastle is seeking an SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one and small group support in a specialist setting. Looking for a role where your calm, confidence, and care make a real difference?
We’re working with a specialist SEMH setting in Newcastle upon Tyne that’s known for its strong pastoral care, structured support, and commitment to helping every pupil succeed.

They’re particularly proud of their sports-focused curriculum and the positive impact this has on engagement and relationships.

What you'll be doing:

  • Providing consistent, one-to-one and small group support

  • Using trauma-informed approaches to help pupils thrive

  • Supporting learning, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCO, and pastoral staff

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in SEMH settings or similar (PRU, SEND, Behaviour Support)

  • Calm under pressure and confident with de-escalation strategies

  • Resilient, empathetic, and committed to making a difference

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
