Blackpool Secondary School | Full-Time, 5 Days a Week | Long-Term Contract

Are you a highly motivated Sports Graduate looking to launch your career in education?

A supportive secondary school in Blackpool is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and authoritative graduate to work as a Classroom Manager / Cover Supervisor. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring teacher to gain vital classroom experience by managing classes of up to 30 pupils across different subjects.

The Role: Classroom Leadership and Management

This non-teaching role is crucial to maintaining educational continuity. You will manage whole classes in the short-term absence of the regular teacher, delivering pre-set work and focusing on behaviour and engagement.

Classroom Management: Proactively supervise classes of up to 30 students across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring students remain on task and complete work left by the absent teacher.

Behaviour and Conduct: Utilise your strong leadership and communication skills (developed through coaching or team sports) to maintain high standards of discipline and student conduct. You will be the sole adult responsible for the class.

Learning Facilitation: Distribute resources, explain the pre-set tasks, and provide general support to students, promoting an environment of independent learning.

Reporting: Report back to the department and Cover Manager on the progress of the class and any significant behavioural issues or achievements.

Essential Requirements
  • A degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, Coaching, or a related field (2:1 or above is desirable).
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate large groups of young people (age 11+) confidently and calmly. Experience in coaching, tutoring, or youth work is highly valuable.
  • Exceptional personal resilience, maturity, and a professional, authoritative presence.
  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education is highly beneficial.
  • Commitment to a full-time, 5-day-a-week working pattern for the long term (until at least July 2026).
The Offer

Role Title: Cover Supervisor / Classroom Manager (Graduate Focus).

Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term Contract (potential to become permanent or lead to teacher training).
