Overview

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming SEN provision in Maghull for a passionate and enthusiastic SEN Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic split role where you will support pupils with additional needs in the classroom while also delivering engaging sports and physical activity sessions - with a particular emphasis on football coaching.

The school are looking for someone with a football background who can inspire and motivate pupils, using sport to build confidence, resilience and teamwork, while also supporting their learning and social development in line with their EHCPs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group SEN support in the classroom and during sports sessions
  • Plan and deliver structured football activities as well as wider sports sessions tailored to the needs of SEN pupils
  • Support pupils in developing social interaction, communication and confidence through sport
  • Assist with behaviour management and de-escalation strategies when required
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO, teachers and other support staff to create a safe and inclusive environment
  • Promote positive wellbeing and encourage healthy, active lifestyles
Qualifications and experience
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN is essential
  • Strong background in football coaching (FA qualifications desirable)
  • Knowledge of adapting activities for pupils with autism, social and emotional needs, or other additional needs
  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills
  • Team Teach training or similar positive handling training is desirable
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
  • Ongoing CPD and training through our agency
