Job Description:

Prospero Teaching is seeking a confident and energetic Sports Coach to engage students in a Secondary SEMH Alternative Provision in Northenden. The coach will deliver PE sessions across all ages, promoting physical fitness and healthy lifestyles, serving as a role model for pupils who are disengaged with their studies.

The school caters to students in Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4, many with difficulties in mainstream schooling and some with an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The provision supports students with various needs, including autism spectrum disorder, Asperger's Syndrome, speech and language difficulties, and severe social, emotional, and mental health challenges such as ADHD.

This position is suitable for experienced individuals with a strong background in sports mentoring for children and young adults. Depending on performance, there may be opportunities for contract extension or a permanent role.

CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS
  • Location: Northenden (M22)
  • Position: Youth Worker/TA
  • Type of work: Classroom support
  • Start date: January 2025
  • Duration: Full academic year (ending July 2025)
  • Contract type: Temporary to permanent
  • Full-time
  • Pay rate: GBP 110 per day
  • Hours: Monday to Friday (term time only)
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience in SEMH/PRU settings
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher (preferable)
  • GCSE Maths and English; computer literate
  • Recent safeguarding training (within last year)
  • Team Teach qualification or willingness to attend training
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced child DBS certificate registered with the update service or willingness to process a new application
  • Two professional child-related references covering the last two years
