Job description

Sports Coach - SEMH Provision

Location: Shepshed, Leicestershire (LE12)

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm

Start Date: ASAP

Daily Pay: 95 - 105 per day

Contract: Short-term (2-4 weeks initially), with strong potential for extension or a permanent role

Essential: Enhanced DBS issued within the last 12 months or registered on the Update Service

Long Term Futures are working in partnership with an Ofsted-rated 'Good' SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Shepshed (LE12), supporting pupils aged 4-16 years. We are seeking an enthusiastic Sports Coach who can inspire and engage students through physical activity and structured sports sessions. This is the perfect opportunity for somebody who is confident to plan and deliver engaging sports sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging sports and physical activity sessions tailored to students with SEMH needs
  • Work closely with pupils who find traditional classroom learning difficult, helping to build their confidence and social skills through sport
  • Offer both 1:1 and small group support, using movement and teamwork to encourage positive behaviours
  • De-escalate challenging situations using a calm, consistent approach
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil engagement, progress and areas of concern

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH and/or SEN
  • Have a background in sports coaching, youth work, mentoring, or similar
  • Be patient, resilient, and able to build strong relationships with students
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with staff
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS Certificate (this is a ASAP starting role)
