Job summary

Shine is seeking an Apprentice Community Activator Coach to support PE lessons, run after-school clubs, and train with experienced staff. You will gain hands-on experience with pupils of varying ages and abilities, learning activity setups and how to lead groups in a positive, energetic environment.

You will undergo regular training through a college, including a DBS check and travel between schools during your day.

Qualifications

• Willing to travel between schools during the day.
• Must pass DBS check.
• Work during school holidays including half-terms and summer breaks.

Responsibilities

• Set up activities and lead small groups for pupils of different ages and abilities.
• Prepare resources and equipment, assist with behaviour management, and support school events or sports activities.
• Record pupil progress and supervise breaks to keep spaces safe and engaging.

Job description

You’ll help out in PE lessons, support fun after-school clubs, and spend time training with other apprentices, both practical and theory, to build your skills and confidence.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

• You will gain hands-on experience working with pupils of different ages and abilities, learning how to set up activities, lead small groups, and create a positive, energetic environment where everyone can get involved
• You’ll also take on tasks such as preparing resources and equipment before sessions, assisting with behaviour management, helping to organise school events or sports activities, and supporting teachers with day‑to‑day classroom duties. You may also be involved in recording pupil progress, supervising break or lunchtime activities, and ensuring that learning spaces remain safe, tidy, and engaging
• Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll be supported by experienced staff who will guide your development and help you grow into your role
