We are seeking someone who would like an opportunity to work as a sports coach and as a teaching assistant, supporting a pupil in year7.

We are looking for an enthusiastic degree student, or a graduate with a strong sports background; coaching expertise in cricket is essential. Experience in football and rugby would be an advantage, although all sports will be considered.

Role Overview:

The post is for a fixed term from the 1st of September 2025, until the 5th of July 2026. A full induction will take place before term starts. The salary package will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The role will include the provision of in-class support for a year 7 pupil, for part of his timetable predominately maths, science, and design, and to assist with evening and weekend boarding duties.

As part of the package we offer, we can include rent free accommodation for the duration of the contract, including utilities and meals during term time. We will aim to develop your skills and experience both personally and professionally; the successful candidate will learn quickly from the members of staff with whom they are working; applying effective teaching methods and techniques which encourage respect and good behaviour from the pupils and demonstrating confident, firm control of individuals and groups in a variety of situations.

Skills:

We expect the successful candidate to demonstrate clear potential to operate effectively in both coaching sports to children across the age range and assisting the year 7 pupil in lessons.

On the sports side, we are seeking to appoint an energetic and passionate sports coach who will work with a range of ages and abilities. In addition, the successful candidate will have appropriate qualifications/experience in other sports we offer.

You will be committed to supporting sports teams and individuals to succeed at all levels. You will have played Cricket at a proficient level and gained some coaching experience in Cricket and possibly other sports.

As a 1:1 teaching assistant, you will be confident in literacy, numeracy and written skills and have a strong commitment to a high standard of student care. You will be well organised, a good problem solver, and have a calm, reassuring demeanour. These qualities will enable the pupil to feel confident in the post holder to support them in their work.
