Job summary

A local education recruitment agency is seeking an experienced sports coach to work with children aged 11–16 at a Preston-based school. The role involves supporting PE and outdoor education lessons, as well as assisting with general learning. The position is full-time from November 3, with a pay rate of £90 per day. Applicants must have experience in sports coaching and be comfortable working with children who exhibit challenging behaviours.

Qualifications

  • Experience working as a sports coach, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Confidence in managing children with challenging behaviours.
  • Able to obtain an up-to-date DBS.

Responsibilities

  • Support lessons mainly in PE and outdoor education.
  • Lead small groups during sports lessons.

Overview

Axcis Education are working with a Preston-based school for 11–16 year olds with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. The school is Ofsted judged as "good" and is seeking an experienced sports coach who is looking to transfer their skills into an education setting.

Role details
  • Location: outskirts of Preston with good links to public transport and on-site parking.
  • Start: after the October half-term; full-time, 8:30am – 3:15pm, Monday – Friday. Ideally commences on 3 November.
  • Responsibilities: support in a range of lessons, primarily PE and outdoor education, where you may lead small groups; when not in a sports lesson, assist students with learning in other subjects.
  • Pay: £90 per day PAYE.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Experience as a sports coach with the ability to transfer skills to an education setting.
  • Confident working with children who can display challenging behaviours.
  • Safeguarding: an up-to-date DBS or be prepared to have one processed on your behalf; compliance checks in line with DfE guidelines.
