Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only
Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour
We are working in partnership with a specialist Secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Darwen to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Sports Coach. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about using sport to support young people who may struggle in mainstream settings due to behavioural, emotional, or social needs.
About the Role:
As a Sports Coach, you'll deliver engaging and structured PE sessions and physical activities for students aged 11-16. Sport plays a key role in this school's approach to developing confidence, teamwork, resilience, and behaviour management skills in their learners.
You'll be expected to:
Plan and lead inclusive sports sessions tailored to individual needs
Build positive relationships and act as a role model to students
Use sport to promote emotional regulation, focus, and teamwork
Support classroom teachers and the wider pastoral team when needed
Implement consistent and effective behaviour management strategies
Requirements:
A recognised sports coaching qualification (minimum Level 2 preferred)
Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEMH or alternative provision setting
Strong behaviour management and excellent communication skills
A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to challenging behaviour
An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
