Job summary

Zest Education are recruiting Sports Coaches to work as Cover Supervisors in secondary schools across Handsworth and Aston. This role supports KS3/KS4 PE and provides general classroom cover when staff are absent. We are looking for sporty, enthusiastic individuals who can create a positive learning environment and ensure high engagement.

This is a temporary supply role. Applicants should have a DBS check in place or be willing to obtain one, and have recent experience working with young people

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching sports and working with young people.
• DBS check and safeguarding compliance required.
• References covering the last two years must be provided.

Responsibilities

• Supervise groups of students aged 11–18 during lessons and cover periods.
• Lead and support pre-planned PE activities and lessons.
• Maintain high standards of behaviour and safety in the classroom and gym environments.

Sports Coach – Cover Supervisor

Zest Education are recruiting Sports Coaches to work as Cover Supervisors in secondary schools across Handsworth and Aston.

We are a main agency provider to schools across the region and have an ongoing need for enthusiastic, reliable and sporty individuals to join our team.

The Role

As a Sports Coach Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in supporting secondary schools by supervising students and delivering pre-planned lessons when teaching staff are absent.

You will primarily support KS3 and KS4 PE lessons, as well as providing general classroom cover when required.

In PE lessons, you will:

• Supervise groups of students aged 11–18
• Lead and support pre-planned PE activities and lessons
• Encourage students to participate in physical activity
• Maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement
• Ensure health and safety standards are maintained at all times
• Create a positive, enjoyable and supportive learning environment

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a sporting background who would like to gain further experience working within an educational setting.

To be considered, you will need to be either:

• A recent university graduate, or
• Have a minimum of 20 days' experience working with groups of children or young people

• Holiday clubs
• Volunteering
• Teaching or classroom support

• Hold an Enhanced DBS, or be willing to allow Zest Education to process one

• Successfully complete all necessary safeguarding and compliance checks before being cleared for work

The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position include recent school-based experience within the last five years in a school teaching the British Curriculum and/or relevant care-based experience within the last five years.
