Our vision is for every disabled child and young person to belong, thrive and reach their potential. We work to remove barriers and promote inclusion by creating a supportive community where families can access practical help, connection and activities tailored to their needs.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

Are you passionate about creating fun, accessible spaces where disabled children and their families can thrive?

We’re looking for a warm, energetic and adaptable person to deliver sport sessions, with a key role in our Football club. At Allsorts, no two days are the same. You’ll be part of a passionate, supportive team helping families build confidence, and connections. This is your chance to make a real impact – and have a lot of fun along the way!

Key responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging family activities as part of a dynamic team, including the Co-Head of Services – Transitions & YuGo, Families Coordinator, Families Activity Leader, Service Manager and volunteers.
  • Facilitate participation and inclusion for children and families with a wide range of needs, including non-speaking children and those with behaviours that challenge.
  • Work with colleagues to plan fun and engaging sessions that develop young people’s skills.
  • Create positive, high-quality experiences for children, young people and their parent/carers at every session.
  • Champion safety and inclusion by implementing Allsorts’ policies and procedures and ensuring all activities are safe, legal and welcoming.
  • Listen to, and act on member feedback to help shape activities that meet families’ needs and expectations.
  • Work collaboratively within the team to foster a warm, supportive and inclusive environment for all members.
  • Support and guide volunteers to ensure sessions run safely and smoothly.
  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation, recording feedback and outcomes to help improve future activities.
  • Use positive behaviour support strategies where training and guidance have been provided.
  • Take responsibility for practical duties, including secure locking up of venues after sessions and completion of registers.
  • Carry out other reasonable tasks as required, working closely with the Co-Head of Services – Transitions & YuGo.
Personal Specification
  • Experience creating inclusive, engaging spaces for disabled children and those with additional needs, ensuring children feel welcome and supported.
  • Be a consistent and reliable presence with the ability to foster positive connections with the children and their families.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening and the ability to adapt communication styles to meet individual needs.
  • A genuine passion for inclusion and a belief that all children and families should have equal access to play, friendship and fun.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond positively to changing needs and situations.
  • Commitment to learning and development, including undertaking relevant training to enhance skills and understanding.
  • Ability to follow and apply policies and procedures to maintain safe, high-quality standards.
  • An interest in sports and supporting people to develop their abilities.
  • A qualification in sports coaching
  • Training or experience in moving and handling, positive behaviour management, and safeguarding.
