Job summary

Wrexham University seeks a motivated Technician Demonstrator in Sport Science to assist in teaching, research and practical activities across our labs and field environments. You will support students and staff in using Cortex Metalyser, Qualisys, VALD and Isokinetic Dynamometer systems safely and effectively.

You will maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot advanced instrumentation, coordinate laboratory bookings, and ensure compliance with health and safety policies, including risk assessments.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science or equivalent work experience.
• Practical skills in biomechanics and exercise physiology.
• Experience using sport science laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching, research, and practical activities across laboratory and field environments.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot high-end sport science instrumentation for optimum performance.
• Manage laboratory bookings and ensure safe, functional lab environments.

Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and technically skilled Technician Demonstrator in Sport Science to support the delivery of teaching, research, and practical activities across our laboratory and field environments.

The role will involve supporting students and staff in the safe and effective use of specialist sport science equipment, includingCortex Metalyser, Qualisys, VALD and Isokinetic Dynamometer systems. You will be responsible for maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting high-end instrumentation to ensure optimum performance and reliability.

You will also manage laboratory bookings, maintain safe and functional laboratory environments, and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, including the preparation ofrisk assessments and COSHH documentation.

• BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science or a relevant sport-related discipline or relevant work experience.
• Specialist knowledge and practical skills inbiomechanics and exercise physiology.
• Experience working with sport science laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
• Strong understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and practical problem-solving skills.
