Job summary

Sirona care & health CIC is seeking a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant Practitioner in the Bristol area. You will work under the SLT team to deliver rehabilitation for speech, language and swallowing, with both direct and indirect patient contact.

The role involves supporting clinicians, monitoring patient progress, and performing administrative tasks to aid service delivery. A Foundation Degree or equivalent is required, with NHS benefits and part-time flexible working.

Qualifications

• Foundation Degree modules, Diploma in Clinical Health and Social Care or diploma level 3 or equivalent experience as band 4 therapy support worker
• CPD in neurology, stroke and aphasia/dysphagia (Desirable)
• Experience with patients/clients with communication difficulties in health or social care setting (Essential)
• IT skills for team functions (Outlook, Teams, Excel) (Essential)
• Understanding of data protection and confidentiality (Essential)
• Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act and consent issues (Essential)
• Some knowledge of swallowing difficulties post-stroke or neurological conditions (Desirable)

Responsibilities

• Rehabilitation exercises to promote speech, language and swallowing; provide direct and indirect patient contact under SLT team supervision
• Support clinicians with patients with communication, cognitive and swallowing difficulties following stroke within a MDT framework
• Monitor patient response, evaluate outcomes and adapt input; report progress to therapists
• Provide administrative support: materials prep, data collection, and handover of clinical information
