Job summary

Overstone Park School is seeking a dedicated Speech and Language Therapist to support children and young people with SEND, including autism and complex communication needs, across our Overstone Park and Maidwell Hall campuses.

In this full-time role, you will assess speech, language and communication needs, deliver targeted therapy, support AAC, and help staff embed communication strategies to improve learning, wellbeing and independence.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Experience with SEND, autism and complex communication needs.
• Knowledge of evidence-based assessment, intervention and AAC approaches.
• Ability to adapt practice to pupils’ developmental levels and communication preferences.
• Strong organisational and collaborative skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and continuing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Assess pupils’ speech, language and communication needs and develop individual therapy programmes.
• Deliver individual and small-group therapy and support communication in classrooms.
• Support non-speaking and minimally speaking pupils through AAC.
• Help staff embed communication strategies and visual supports throughout the school day.
• Contribute to delivery and review of speech and language provision in pupils’ EHC plans.
• Set measurable targets, monitor progress and maintain clinical records.
• Prepare reports and contribute to annual reviews and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Provide practical guidance and training for staff and parents or carers.
