Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with autism and complex SEND needs.
  • Strong assessment, intervention and report-writing abilities.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary SEND team and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

Speech and Language Therapist HCPC Registered Specialist SEN School

A specialist SEN school in London is seeking an experienced and passionate Speech and Language Therapist to join their multidisciplinary team from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapist to work directly with children and young people with a range of communication, language, autism and complex SEND needs, helping pupils develop the skills they need to access education and build greater independence.

The Role

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, support staff and external professionals, you will provide specialist assessment, intervention and advice across the school.

You will:

  • Assess pupils' speech, language, communication and interaction needs
  • Develop and deliver individual and group therapy programmes
  • Provide advice and strategies to teaching and support staff
  • Contribute to EHCP assessments, reviews and outcomes
  • Support pupils with expressive/receptive language and social communication needs
  • Work with pupils using AAC, visual communication and other communication approaches where appropriate
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil progress
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and reports
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary SEND team
  • Support staff to embed communication strategies throughout the school day
About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist
  • A relevant Speech and Language Therapy degree
  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Strong knowledge of SEND and communication needs
  • Experience supporting pupils with autism and/or complex needs
  • Excellent assessment, intervention and report-writing skills
  • Strong communication and multidisciplinary working skills
  • A child-centred, patient and solution-focused approach

Experience within a specialist SEN school, autism provision, NHS community service or paediatric setting would be highly advantageous.
