Job description

We would love you to come and join our acute speech and language therapy teams in Salford for a 12-month Fixed Term contract to cover a maternity leave. This is part-time hours (30 hours) and would be well suited to someone requiring a flexible working pattern.

You will be part of the acute SLT team offering Speech and Language Therapy provision for patients across the acute medical and surgical wards. We also provide input to the acute neuro and neuro surgical wards.

This post will require you to have skills in managing adults with a range of swallowing and communication difficulties. Alongside this, you will also work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and have opportunities to contribute to service development and quality improvement programs.

We are keen to pursue innovative treatments within SLT as well as be involved in research. We are looking for a like-minded individual to come and join us.

All applicants must have a degree in Speech & Language Therapy and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the RCSLT.

You will provide assessment, treatment, and management of adults with speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Previous experience of working with adults would be an advantage, but we are happy to take applications from Newly-Qualified Therapists.

We would welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about providing a quality service to our patients and who are willing to grow their knowledge and skills in these clinical areas. In return, we will provide supervision, protected CPD time, and a preceptorship programme to support completion of the RCSLT newly qualified competencies.

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) provides hospital and integrated health and social care services to over one million people living across Greater Manchester. Our 20,000 colleagues care for people in hospital and in the community, working across Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, and Salford, to save and improve lives.

As a large NHS trust, we are committed to enhancing the health of our local population by delivering consistently high standards of care and working closely with local authorities and key partners. We believe in our power and potential to make a difference and we're always looking for people who demonstrate our three core values - care, appreciate, and inspire - to join our team.

In return, we can offer you a job role with purpose and flexibility. The size and scale of the NCA means we can provide more challenge and opportunities so your career can always be moving in the right direction. By joining us, you can also access a competitive benefits package, including a fantastic annual leave allowance, flexible working opportunities, and protected hours for health and wellbeing activities, helping you to achieve more personal downtime and a better work-life balance.
