Job summary

Sanctuary Personnel is seeking a Speech & Language Therapist in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. The role offers a £42,000 annual salary and permanent full-time status within a leading healthcare facility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist assessments and interventions for residents with acquired disorders related to neurological, respiratory, and other medical conditions.
  • Manage a complex caseload including tracheostomies, prolonged disorders of consciousness, and cognitive-communication disorders.
  • Coordinate and deliver advanced communication and dysphagia interventions using evidence-based approaches.
  • Offer expert advice and leadership around communication and swallowing needs within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop and evaluate individualised Speech and Language treatment programs with residents.

What you will do:
  • Provide specialist assessment and intervention for individuals with acquired disorders from neurological, respiratory, and other medical conditions.

  • Manage a complex caseload that includes residents with tracheostomies, prolonged disorders of consciousness, locked-in syndrome, and cognitive-communication disorders, ensuring person-centred care.

  • Coordinate and deliver advanced communication and dysphagia interventions using evidence-based approaches.

  • Offer expert advice and leadership around communication and swallowing needs as a key multidisciplinary team member.

  • Develop and evaluate individualised Speech and Language treatment programs, co-producing meaningful goals with residents.

Key responsibilities:
  • Conduct highly specialist assessments of communication related to complex clinical conditions.

  • Manage assessment, treatment, and outcomes for complex Eating, Drinking, and Swallowing disorders.

  • Utilise Fibre-optic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and identify when videofluoroscopy is required.

  • Provide assessment and interventions for residents with tracheostomies, including those requiring ventilator support.

  • Employ clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice in crafting and overseeing treatment plans.

Requirements:
  • HCPC registration

  • Experienced in managing caseloads involving dysphagia assessment and treatment

  • Experience working with families is essential

  • Evidence of ongoing Professional Development in relevant areas
