Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment is seeking a HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapist for a specialist education setting in Manchester. The role is term-time only with a full-time schedule (Mon-Fri, 8:15am-4:00pm) and salaries between £33,000 and £39,000 depending on experience.

Luma Education Recruitment is working with a well-established specialist education provider in Manchester to recruit a dedicated Speech and Language Therapist to join their expanding SEND and Inclusion team.

This is an excellent opportunity to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASC), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, developmental language disorders and attachment needs.

The Role

As a School Speech and Language Therapist, you'll assess, plan and deliver high-quality speech and language therapy interventions that enable pupils to communicate, learn and thrive.

Working closely with teachers, the SENDCo, families and external professionals, you'll play a key role in developing personalised support plans that improve communication, engagement and independence.

This is a term-time only position, offering an excellent work-life balance while making a genuine difference every day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess pupils' speech, language and communication needs using formal and informal assessment tools.
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group Speech and Language Therapy interventions.
  • Develop, implement and review personalised therapy programmes.
  • Support pupils with Autism, SEMH, developmental language disorders and wider communication needs.
  • Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), annual reviews and target setting.
  • Provide practical communication strategies for teachers, teaching assistants and parents.
  • Work collaboratively with SEND professionals, education staff and external agencies.
  • Monitor progress and adapt therapy programmes to meet individual needs.
  • Produce high-quality reports and maintain accurate clinical records.
  • Promote inclusive communication strategies across the school.
About You
  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Current HCPC Registration.
  • Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Experience supporting children and young people with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
  • Knowledge of SEND legislation and the EHCP process.
  • Excellent assessment, communication and report-writing skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own caseload.
Salary and Benefits
  • Salary of £33,000 - £39,000, depending on experience.
