Job description
Overview

Band 6 Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist - Richmond

We are looking for Band 6 Speech and Language Therapists to join our innovative and successful Paediatric Therapies Team in Richmond. The Richmond-upon-Thames Local Area SEND inspection report (October 2023) commented positively on our team’s work: “Therapists provide timely assessments and innovative approaches to make sure that those caring for or working with children and young people with SEND receive the support and guidance they need.”

Richmond is a great place to live and work and has been named as the “happiest place to live” in Great Britain (Rightmove’s “Happy at Home” Index, 2023).

We are a well-established, integrated and supportive team. All therapists have regular individual and peer group supervision, access to specialist outreach, and internal and external training. We welcome applications for full and part-time work, and there are plenty of opportunities to develop your clinical interests.

Here’s what some of our current therapists like about working in our team: “This team is by far the most supportive I have worked in”; “The management have been very proactive with helping me find and develop a specialism”; “It’s very easy to access supervision and outreach by specialists and everyone is actively keen to help”; “We have a big band 6 team so there’s a lot of peer support”.

Responsibilities

Main duties of the job

  • Work with children/young people with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs in early years, mainstream schools and special schools.
  • Develop skills by taking on responsibilities outside direct caseload work to support the service – such as training, resource development, service design, audit and outreach.
Development and Wellbeing

Your growth and personal happiness matters to us. We’re committed to fostering your professional and personal development within a supportive, empowering environment. We provide tools and opportunities to succeed, supporting involvement in research, quality improvement and innovation at all levels of the organisation.

To support your wellbeing, we offer an extensive range of resources, including an on-site staff nursery at Kingston Hospital, wellbeing practitioners, regular wellbeing classes, dedicated staff physiotherapist, comprehensive occupational health services, a 24/7 employee assistance programme, and other support and activities. We also recognise and celebrate the work of our teams through weekly shoutouts, patient feedback, and monthly and annual awards.
